Explosive > Steady > Explosive on LnL proc gives better dps than Explosive spam.
Other than that, I'd suggest trying it out without using Aimed for a first bit because jumping in fresh makes it complicated.
And when you leave out Aimed for a while you get a much more simple ES > SS > SS > SS > ES etc. and refreshing Serpent sting when necessary.- God Emperor of Hunters and Priest Forum Mean Person.

Don't bother going bk to shadowform if you drop out in battle. Too mh mana for a little extra damage, and if you're taking that mh, you probably will need to heal again anyway. Many a mob died with 2 dots on them while Ihain healed myself.

What I think you're trying to say is that you are draining mobs that will not provide a soul shard. That really means that you are fightingritters that are too low for your level. Only green or better mobs will give you soul shards. That means that you have to pay attention to your toolttarget on. If it's gray, don't bother to attk it - it will never give you a soul shard (or XP, for that matter - gray mobs are for farming, and are useless otherwise).
Drain Soul's tooltlearly says that you only get a Soul Shard if the mob whose soul you take ...
